Stephan Packard is Junior Professor for Media Culture Studies at Freiburg University. Special research interests include the semiotic and the psychoanalytic study of traditional and new media, censorship and other types of textual control, as well as the cultural construction of virtuality. Ongoing efforts are directed towards a semiotic description of emotional and affective aspects of literature, focusing on 18th century sentimentalism and sensibility.
