Public Speaker

They called him a master of rhetorics.
His command of mnemenotics
Seemed to excel without effort, pain or strife;
His audience turned symbiotic
With reactions near-robotic,
Yet his mind was not at all the sharpest knife.
Though his topics were idiotic,
All his speeches were hypnotic,
And to listen to him was a fact of life.
He was no hero, no heretic,
Everyone felt sympathetic,
And he always made a point to thank his wife.
He never seemed idiosyncratic:
His opinions, though erratic,
Were a perfect fit for all the good old boys.
His funeral, though inconspicuous,
Saw attendance quite meticulous.
Everybody said they’d miss his background noise.

Kindle’s Heavenly Host

Kindle believes me in dire need of spiritual assistance. I won’t argue they’re wrong, but I am a bit surprised by the sudden demonstration of their concern. »»»»
